Getting Fit for Summer: Tips from W.I.T.S. Fitness

Many of us are stepping it up right about now, trying to get to reach our goals to look nice and trim on the beach. So how does W.I.T.S. Fitness recommend you get fit for summer? By teaching you fun exercises.

Swimming
It’s hot and the water feels so good after a productive day at work. Take advantage of the season and start swimming. Do several laps around the pool using different strokes. Swimming is an excellent way to combine cardio and strength training. So the more you do, the better. Try leg lifts, squats, marching in place, and others. You can even try using weights for your arms with curls and arm lifts.

Walk in the Park
Since it is so nice outside, go for a walk. Whether it’s walking the dog or a stroll with a loved one, a walk anytime is a good idea. Make sure you bring a water bottle to stay hydrated. Challenge yourself to get fit for summer by doing a little more. Walk one mile and then progress to more. Change it up and walk in different parks. A different terrain will help build muscle by preventing your body from getting used to the same movements.

Mouthwatering Fruits
Watermelon, cantaloupe, strawberries, and more! Not only are fruits delicious, but they’re fun to eat—a cool, refreshing treat. Make sure to get your two servings of this food group. There is no need for sweet deserts when you can have a tasty serving of watermelon or strawberries.
